Overview

Comstock is a six-story coeducational hall housing 561 residents. It is adjacent to the east bank of the Mississippi River. The East Bank is home to programs such as Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Women's Studies, Psychology, Architecture, and Language Studies among others. The buildings that house these programs are in close proximity to Comstock and are easily accessible by foot, bike, and the free campus shuttle system. Its central location allows access to Coffman Memorial Union, the Weisman Art Museum and the central campus area making it a popular hall for returning students. Comstock Hall, built in 1940, is named for Ada L. Comstock, Dean of Women at the University of Minnesota in the early 1900s.

Information Desk

Comstock Hall's Information desk is centrally located in the heart of the building and lobby area. The desk is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The desk is staffed by mostly upper class students, most of whom either live in Comstock currently or have lived in Comstock in the past. They are extremely knowledgeable about the campus and are a terrific information resource. At the information desk, residents can check out movies, sports equipment, games, vacuums, tools, computer lab keys and other handy items free of charge. You can also pick up packages and mail at the desk.

Community Council

The Comstock Community Council is the voice for the students who live in Comstock Hall and a great way to get involved. The council provides a forum for discussion and implementation of programs, topics, and situations pertaining to the well-being and maintenance of Comstock Hall and acts as an advisor, associate, and liaison for Comstock Hall residents in all possible matters concerning Comstock Hall. All people living in Comstock Hall are welcome and encouraged to join the council! Residents may get involved with Community Council by talking to their Community Advisor or by attending a general body meeting.
