      • Small carrying case or plastic bucket to carry toiletries
      • UL-listed extension cords
      • Clothes hangers
      • Laundry basket/bag (and detergent)
      • Storage boxes that fit under the bed
      • Book case/shelf
      • Bicycle and bike lock (bike racks are at each residence hall)
      • Warm coat and boots
      • Stereo, Ipod
      • Television
      • DVD player
      • One set of dishes
      • Prescription medication

Appliances allowed: iron, hairdryer, drip coffee maker, espresso maker, blender, hot pot, refrigerator (4.3 cubic feet or less), microwave (700 watts or less)

Microfridges and refrigerators may be rented through www.bedloft.com.

As you shop for supplies for your room/apartment, ask yourself, "Is there an eco-friendly version? Is there an alternative to plastic?" View some suggestions on our sustainability page.

 

What not to bring


      • Alcohol (including empty/decorative alcohol containers)
      • Candles or Incense
      • Decorative/holiday lights (lights on a string/rope)
      • Firearms/weapons/explosives
      • Firecrackers
      • Halogen lamps
      • Hookahs
      • Kerosene or oil lamps
      • Multiple outlet (octopus) adapters
      • Pets (fish are allowed in up to a 10 gallon tank)

Appliances not allowed: appliances with open heating elements (oil popcorn maker, toaster, toaster oven, hot plate-burner type, countertop grill, pizza baker/carousel, countertop sandwhich maker, broiler, hotplate, etc.) Note: If assigned to an apartment, you may bring these items.

 

What room furnishings does the University provide?

In individual rooms and apartments, the following are provided for your use:

      • Telephone jack (telephone not provided) per room
      • Single-size bed per student
      • Mattress pad per student
      • Window covering (except in U Village)
      • Closet per student
      • Drawer space per student
      • Desk per student
      • Chair per student
      • Smoke detector
      • Ethernet connection per student
      • Trash can
