Directions & Parking Information

Due to construction within the SuperBlock quad (Pioneer, Frontier, Territorial, and Centennial Halls, we strongly recommend that you follow the specific directions below. We ask for your patience through Move-In, as we navigate getting all of our students moved in during this time. For the most up-to-date information about construction on campus, vist the Housing & Residential Life website.

For August 25 & 26 New Student Move-In

Arrival Time

We ask that you please arrive sometime within 30 minutes after your move in time. This will help with traffic both inside and outside your hall. Your move in time is listed on your Online Move in Guide.

Move-In Volunteers

Move-In Volunteers are available to help unload vehicles, monitor personal belongings during check-in, and move items from the specified unloading zones to Residence Hall rooms. On August 25, volunteers are available at the four Superblock halls, Middlebrook, and Bailey from 1pm to 8:30 pm. On August 26th, volunteers are available at all nine residence halls from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm.

Unloading and Parking

One person must stay with your vehicle at all times. We have Move-In Volunteers to assist with monitoring personal belongings while you get your keys in the lobby of the building. The driver may proceed to the longer term parking area as soon as your items are unloaded. There are moving carts available near the building to help.

Directions to our University apartments: 

Roy Wilkins

Arrival
You may arrive any time after 8:00am on August 15th. You may choose to move in anytime between then and September 1. The Wilkins Hall Information Desk is staffed from 7:00am to midnight every day. A Community Advisor or Summer Assistant is on duty during times that the business office is not open. The Sanford Hall Business Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm and provides business services to the Wilkins Hall residents next door.

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Wilkins Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue Exit. Proceed east on University Avenue to 12th Avenue. Turn right into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed forward to University Avenue SE. Turn left onto University Ave SE. Move into the right lane of traffic, you will proceed one block. At Oak St., turn right and proceed westbound on 4th Street SE to 12th Avenue. Turn left at 12th Avenue. Drive one block, cross University Avenue and proceed into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

Parking and Unloading
Please proceed to the Wilkins Hall Information Desk and secure a 30 Minute Unloading pass to place on your dashboard. You may unload your belongings from lot C43 or C44. There will be moving carts available for check out. Upon completion of unloading, please move your vehicle for longer term parking to street parking near Sanford Hall. If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick up your hang tag during move-in.

University Village

Arrival
You may arrive any time after 8:00am on August 15th. You may choose to move in anytime between then and September 1. The University Village Business Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm. The Information Desk is staffed from 7:00am to midnight every day. A Community Advisor or Summer Assistant is on duty during times that the business office is not open.

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at University Village:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue Exit. Proceed eastbound on University Avenue. You will be making a left turn into the University Village entrance after you proceed through the 25th Ave. intersection. Proceed into the left lane after you go through the Oak Street intersection. You will drive past the University Village west entrance, and turn left into the east entrance at 2601 University Ave.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed north on Huron Boulevard and get into the right lane. Turn right onto Washington Avenue. Turn right onto University Ave. Proceed into the left lane immediately as you will drive past the University Village west entrance, and turn left into the east entrance at 2601 University Ave.

Parking and Unloading
University Village residents may utilize a retail parking spot under the canopy at the front of the building for short term parking during the registration process (about 15 minutes). Proceed to the Information Desk to complete the registration process, receive your keys, and secure an unloading hangtag for the University Village Parking Garage. If you have a parking contract for the year, you will be able to pick up your parking permit in the University Village West offices once you have completed registration in the University Village East offices.

You will be able to check out a moving cart from University Village East to use to make it easier to move your belongings from your vehicle into University Village.

A few notes about limitations for unloading:

  • Retail parking spaces are for the registration process only. Vehicles parked illegally in front of University Village will be subject to towing at the owners expense. Please follow all parking signs.
  • Please return the Unloading Hangtag for the garage within 2 hours. Other residents will need to use the space.
  • Limited street parking is available in the surrounding area after you unload. Please see the University Village Information Desk staff for parking suggestions.

Yudof Hall

Arrival
You may arrive any time after 8:00am on August 15th. You may choose to move in anytime between then and September 1. The Yudof Hall Business Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm. The Information Desk is staffed from 7:00am to midnight every day. A Community Advisor or Summer Assistant is on duty during times that the business office is not open.

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Yudof Hall:

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard exit. Immediately at the end of the exit ramp, you will turn left onto Fulton Street. Fulton Street becomes East River Road just before the Harvard Street stop sign. You’ll then proceed forward along East River Road to the Public Level entrance of the East River Road Parking Ramp.

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit. Proceed east bound on University Avenue to 14th Avenue SE. Turn right on 14th Avenue SE, this becomes the East River Road as you travel the perimeter of the East Bank campus. Follow East River Road and pass under the Washington Avenue Bridge, and past Comstock Hall. Proceed to the Public Entrance of the East River Road Parking Garage. Take a ticket upon entering and proceed to levels E, F, or G.

Parking and Unloading
All Yudof Hall residents will need to unload vehicles within the East River Road Garage. Take a parking ticket upon entering and proceed to levels E, F, or G for unloading and parking.

Take the elevator in the central portion of the garage to the Plaza Level (Level 1). From the Plaza Level, proceed toward Coffman Union and turn left before Delaware Street. The Yudof Hall entrance will be on your left.You or your family will be able to check out a moving cart from Yudof Hall to use to move your belongings from your vehicle into Yudof Hall. You will be able to pick up a parking coupon at the Yudof Hall Information Desk which will reduce the rate of your parking to $6.00 maximum for a full day. This coupon is only good for ONE day. You may get two coupons if you have a second vehicle for your move.

A few notes about limitations for unloading:

  • No stopping or unloading along Delaware Street.
  • Traffic enforcement ensures a full Fire Lane is maintained at all times.
  • There are limited meters in front of Comstock Hall, you may use if space is available upon your arrival. You will need to pay to park at the meters.
  • It is recommended to unload within the parking ramp.
  • Large carts are available for check out in the Yudof Hall Lobby.
  • The height restriction for the East River Road Garage is 7 feet and no trailers are allowed in the parking ramp.

Directions to our Residence Halls:

Bailey Hall

Directions
Due to high traffic volumes near campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Bailey Hall:

Northbound on I-35W: Follow I-35W to I-94. Continue on I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Southbound on I-35W: Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Go south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.

East and Westbound on I-94: Follow I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Westbound on Highway 36: Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Go south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.

Use Cleveland Avenue to arrive on the St. Paul campus.  Proceed down Buford Avenue and follow it around to the back side of Bailey Hall.  You may either utilize the unloading areas at the meters near the St. Paul Gym Field or you may unload in the circle behind the building.  Due to potential congestion in the back circle, we expect about half of the Bailey students to unload near the meters. 

Parking and Unloading
One person must stay with your vehicle at all times. We have Move In Volunteers to assist with monitoring personal belongings while you get your keys in the lobby of the building. The driver may proceed to the longer term parking area as soon as your items are unloaded. There are moving carts available near the back entrance to the building to help with moving your belongings.

After you have unloaded the driver will be directed to move the vehicle to longer term parking in parking lot SC175 located about one block north of Bailey Hall on the west side of Cleveland Avenue. This parking lot has been reserved for Bailey Hall student move in on August 25 and 26. There is no fee or permit required to park in this lot on those two days.

Comstock Hall

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Comstock Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit. Proceed eastbound on University Avenue to 14th Avenue SE. Turn right on 14th Avenue SE, this becomes the East River Parkway as you travel the perimeter of the East Bank campus. Follow East River Parkway and pass under the Washington Avenue Bridge, and past Comstock Hall. Proceed to the Public Entrance of the East River Road Parking Garage.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard exit. Immediately at the end of the exit ramp, you will turn left onto Fulton Street. During move in, Fulton Street becomes one way westbound for Move in unloading in the Superblock. To avoid traffic congestion, you can take a short detour by turning left onto Oak Street for one block, then right onto East River Parkway. East River Parkway meets up with Fulton Street just before the Harvard Street stop sign. You’ll then proceed forward along East River Parkway to the Public Level entrance of the East River Road Parking Ramp.

Parking and Unloading
All Comstock Hall residents will need to unload vehicles within the East River Road Garage. Take a parking ticket upon entering and proceed to levels E, F, or G for unloading and parking.

Take the elevator in the central portion of the garage to the Plaza Level (Level 1). From the Plaza Level, proceed toward Coffman Union and turn left before Delaware Street. Follow the sidewalk around to the entrance of Comstock Hall which faces north.

You/your family will be able to check out a moving cart from the front of Comstock Hall to use to make it easier to move your belongings from your vehicle into Comstock Hall. Parking will be complimentary in designated University of Minnesota parking facilities on August 26 with a parking coupon. A few notes about limitations for unloading:

  • No stopping or unloading along Delaware Street.
  • Due to the closure of Washington Avenue, Delaware Street carries a great deal more traffic.
  • Traffic enforcement ensures a full Fire Lane is maintained at all times.
  • There are limited meters in front of Comstock Hall, you may use if space is available upon your arrival. You will need to pay to park at the meters.
  • It is recommended to unload within the parking ramp.
  • Large carts are available for check out in front of Comstock Hall.
  • The height restriction for the East River Road Garage is 7 feet and no trailers are allowed in the parking ramp.

If the East River Road parking garage becomes full, Comstock Hall residents will be directed to park in the Weisman Art Museum Garage. We will have additional detailed instructions for drivers and students if this occurs.

Middlebrook Hall

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Middlebrook Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University exit. Proceed on University for less than one block to reach the 10th Avenue light. Turn right onto 10th Avenue and follow the bridge over the Mississippi River. Proceed through 2 traffic lights and turn left on 4th Street. Proceed on 4th Street for approximately 2 blocks until arriving at the unloading area and 21st Ave. Parking Ramp.

From eastbound I-94: take the 25th Ave./Riverside exit (Exit 235A). Turn left onto 25th Avenue South, and proceed to Riverside Avenue. Turn left onto Riverside Avenue, and proceed to 22nd Avenue South. Turn Right onto 22nd Avenue South and proceed to South 5th Street. Unloading spaces are available at the Lot C80 meters and Lot C95. For longer term parking, proceed West on South 5th Street, to 21st Avenue South. Turn right on 21st Avenue South, and proceed to the 21st Avenue ramp at the corner of 21st Avenue South and South 4th Street.

From westbound I-94: take exit 235A and proceed to Riverside Avenue. Proceed to 22nd Avenue South and turn Right onto 22nd Avenue South. Proceed to South 5th Street. Unloading spaces are available at the Lot C80 meters and Lot C95.

For longer term parking, proceed West on South 5th Street, to 21st Avenue South.  Turn right on 21st Avenue South, and proceed to the 21st Avenue ramp at the corner of 21st Avenue South and South 4th Street.

Parking and Unloading

Sanford Hall

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Sanford Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue Exit. Proceed east on University Avenue to 12th Avenue. Turn right into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed to University Avenue SE. Turn left onto University Ave SE. At Oak St., the street splits into two one way streets. You will make a right turn at the stadium and proceed westbound on 4th Street SE to 12th Avenue. Turn left at 12th Avenue. Drive one block, cross University Avenue and proceed into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

Parking and Unloading
A Security Monitor will provide you with further parking directions near the entrance area. 

You may unload your belongings from lot C43 and C44.  There will be moving carts available for check out.  One person must stay with your vehicle at all times.  We have Move-In Volunteers to assist with monitoring personal belongings while you get your keys in the building.

Upon completion of unloading, please move your vehicle for longer term parking to the 4th Street Ramp (complimentary parking) or to street parking near Sanford Hall. Parking will be complimentary in designated University of Minnesota parking facilities on August 26 with a parking coupon. If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick it up during the check-in process.

17th Avenue Hall

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at 17th Avenue Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit (Exit 18). Proceed eastbound on University Avenue to 17th Avenue SE. Turn left on 17th Avenue SE, and proceed towards the corner of 17th Avenue SE and 4th Street SE. Unloading spaces are available on the east side of 17th Avenue SE, in the designated unloading zone adjacent to the 17th Ave. Residence Hall.

For longer term parking, continue north on 17th Avenue SE, and enter the 4th Street Parking ramp between 4th Street SE and 5th Street SE.

From I-94: take the Huron Boulevard exit. Continue on Huron Blvd. to University Avenue. Turn left on University Avenue, and continue as University Avenue bears right and becomes 4th St SE. Proceed on 4th St SE, and turn left on 16th Avenue SE. Turn left on University Avenue, and turn left on 17th Avenue SE. Unloading spaces are available on the east side of 17th Avenue SE, in the designated unloading zone adjacent to the 17th Ave. Residence Hall.

For longer term parking, continue north on 17th Avenue SE, and enter the 4th Street Parking ramp between 4th Street SE and 5th Street SE.

Centennial Hall (SuperBlock)

Directions
Because of construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Centennial Hall. Due to the location of our unloading zones, we encourage Centennial Hall Residents to utilize the I-35W route.

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit and proceed eastbound on University Avenue approximately 12 blocks to Oak St. Turn right onto Oak St and proceed for 2 blocks. The unloading areas for Centennial Hall residents are located along the west side of Oak St. south of Delaware St.

From I-94 take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed forward to University Ave. Turn left onto University Ave and stay in the left lane. Turn left onto Oak St. and proceed south through 2 lights. You are being routed this direction in order to queue vehicles for the unloading area.

The unloading areas for Centennial Hall residents are located along the west side of Oak St. south of Delaware St near lot C75.

The Unloading Plan

  • There will be an assisted move in at least 30 minutes past your assigned move in time. 
  • Each vehicle will be directed into an unloading area by people waving orange flags. 
  • Please display the large letter for your building to help direct your vehicle to the optimal unloading area.  
  • Please print the Hall Letter Sign for your hall:

  • After receiving your keys, meet up with your helpers. 
  • Please unload your cart into your room.
  • A staff member will stop by your room to return the cart to the unloading area.

If you wish to consider an alternative to the unloading plan we have outlined, here are important points to keep in mind. 

  • Street parking and meters around the Superblock are heavily used.   If you choose to park at a meter, please be certain that your vehicle fully fits into the parking space and does not intrude into the traffic lane. 
  • If the meter is visible, you must pay to park in that location. 
  • There are limited meters where you may choose to pay to park located near the Superblock:
    • East River Road
    • The north side of Delaware Street between Walnut Street and Oak Street
    • The west side of Oak Street between Fulton Street and East River Road.
    • The east side of Oak Street between Delaware and East River Road.
  • UMPD traffic control will be present during key intervals to assist in keeping traffic moving. 
  • There are two small parking lots with hooded parking meters in between Pioneer and Centennial Halls, and between Centennial and Territorial Halls. The meters in the Pioneer/Centennial lot are designated as 20 minute unassisted unloading zone areas, and will have Security Monitors managing access into and out of these lots. Due to construction, the lot between Centennial and Territorial Halls has been deemed unusable for Move-In.
  • Parking contract holders have reserved spaces in lot C78, C83, and C5, and are off limits for unloading.
  • No unloading along either side of Delaware Street or Harvard Street. 
  • No parking or stopping on grass or vacant lots near the Superblock.
  • The Fairview Hospital Ramp is reserved for hospital and clinic visitors.  The university does not have any reciprocal parking privileges. 

Frontier Hall (SuperBlock)

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Frontier Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit and proceed eastbound approximately 11 blocks to Oak Street. Turn right onto Oak Street and proceed for 3-4 blocks.

Frontier residents living in the North Wing (for example, those with a room number like N499) will unload along Oak St near the Northeast corner of Frontier and use the North Elevator entrance.

All other Frontier residents, turn right onto Fulton St. Proceed westbound on Fulton Street to an unloading area.

From I-94: take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Frontier residents living in the North Wing (for example, those with a room number like N499) will proceed forward to University Ave. Turn left onto University Ave and stay in the left lane. Turn left onto Oak St. and proceed south through 2 lights. Unload along Oak St near the Northeast Corner of Frontier and use the North Elevator entrance.

All other Frontier residents, turn left immediately onto Fulton Street, at the first light at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed westbound on Fulton Street to Oak Street. Stay in the left lane as you approach Oak St.

During heavily assigned Move-In times, Fulton Street will be designated as an unloading area and unloading will occur on Fulton Street and the parking lots between Oak Street and East River Road for residents moving into Frontier and Pioneer Halls.

The Unloading Plan

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit and proceed eastbound approximately 11 blocks to Oak Street. Turn right onto Oak Street and proceed for 3-4 blocks. Turn right onto Fulton St. Proceed westbound on Fulton Street to an unloading area.

From I-94: take the Huron Boulevard Exit. You will turn left immediately onto Fulton Street. This is the first light at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed westbound on Fulton Street to Oak Street. Stay in the left lane as you approach Oak St.

During assigned Move In times, Fulton Street will be one way only and unloading will occur on Fulton Street and the two parking lots between Oak Street and East River Road for residents moving into Frontier and Pioneer Halls.

Pioneer Hall is separated into North (N) and South (S) segments. Students assigned to South rooms (ex. S499) will unload along Fulton Street. Students assigned to North rooms (N499) will unload in a lot along Harvard Street between Pioneer and Centennial. Please be sure to print off the correct letter sign (PN or PS) to display to the traffic monitors.

If possible, you will want to find a parking space near to the door that is closest to your room. You can find the list and map of rooms to doors here.

Territorial Hall (SuperBlock)

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Territorial Hall. Due to unloading zone location, we encourage Territorial Hall Residents to utilize the I-35W route.

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit and proceed eastbound on University Avenue approximately 12 blocks to Oak St. Turn right onto Oak St and proceed for 2 blocks. The unloading areas for Territorial Hall residents are located along the west side of Oak St. south of Delaware St.

From I-94: take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed forward to University Ave. Turn left onto University Ave and stay in the left lane. Turn left onto Oak St. and proceed south through 2 lights. You are being routed this direction in order to queue vehicles for the unloading area.

The unloading areas for Territorial Hall residents are located along the west side of Oak St. south of Delaware St.

The Unloading Plan

  • There will be an assisted move in at least 30 minutes past your assigned move in time. 
  • Each vehicle will be directed into an unloading area by people waving orange flags. 
  • Please display the large letter for your building to help direct your vehicle to the optimal unloading area.  
  • Please print the Hall Letter Sign for your hall:

  • The vehicle will be unloaded into carts or grassy areas within 15 minutes with assistance by Move-In Volunteers in gold t-shirts.
  • The driver will receive instructions to the parking location and a parking coupon. 
  • You will check in at your building and pick up your keys while the driver and 3rd person help with unloading.  The 3rd person can watch your belongings while the driver parks.
  • After receiving your keys, meet up with your helpers. 
  • Please unload your cart into your room.
  • A staff member will stop by your room to return the cart to the unloading area.

Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Wilkins Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue Exit. Proceed east on University Avenue to 12th Avenue. Turn right into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed forward to University Avenue SE. Turn left onto University Ave SE. Move into the right lane of traffic, you will proceed one block. At Oak St., turn right and proceed westbound on 4th Street SE to 12th Avenue. Turn left at 12th Avenue. Drive one block, cross University Avenue and proceed into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

Parking and Unloading
Please proceed to the Wilkins Hall Information Desk and secure a 30 Minute Unloading pass to place on your dashboard. You may unload your belongings from lot C43 or C44. There will be moving carts available for check out. Upon completion of unloading, please move your vehicle for longer term parking to street parking near Sanford Hall. If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick up your hang tag during move-in.

University Village

Arrival

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue Exit. Proceed eastbound on University Avenue. You will be making a left turn into the University Village entrance after you proceed through the 25th Ave. intersection. Proceed into the left lane after you go through the Oak Street intersection. You will drive past the University Village west entrance, and turn left into the east entrance at 2601 University Ave.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed north on Huron Boulevard and get into the right lane. Turn right onto Washington Avenue. Turn right onto University Ave. Proceed into the left lane immediately as you will drive past the University Village west entrance, and turn left into the east entrance at 2601 University Ave.

Parking and Unloading
University Village residents may utilize a retail parking spot under the canopy at the front of the building for short term parking during the registration process (about 15 minutes). Proceed to the Information Desk to complete the registration process, receive your keys, and secure an unloading hangtag for the University Village Parking Garage. If you have a parking contract for the year, you will be able to pick up your parking permit in the University Village West offices once you have completed registration in the University Village East offices.

You will be able to check out a moving cart from University Village East to use to make it easier to move your belongings from your vehicle into University Village.

A few notes about limitations for unloading:

  • Retail parking spaces are for the registration process only. Vehicles parked illegally in front of University Village will be subject to towing at the owners expense. Please follow all parking signs.
  • Please return the Unloading Hangtag for the garage within 2 hours. Other residents will need to use the space.
  • Limited street parking is available in the surrounding area after you unload. Please see the University Village Information Desk staff for parking suggestions.

Yudof Hall

Arrival
You may arrive any time after 8:00am on August 15th. You may choose to move in anytime between then and September 1. Due to Residence Hall Move In activities on campus, it is recommended that you avoid moving into Yudof Hall on August 25 and 26. 

The Yudof Hall Business Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm. The Information Desk is staffed from 7:00am to midnight every day. A Community Advisor or Summer Assistant is on duty during times that the business office is not open.

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Yudof Hall:

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard exit. Immediately at the end of the exit ramp, you will turn left onto Fulton Street. Fulton Street becomes East River Road just before the Harvard Street stop sign. You’ll then proceed forward along East River Road to the Public Level entrance of the East River Road Parking Ramp.

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit. Proceed east bound on University Avenue to 14th Avenue SE. Turn right on 14th Avenue SE, this becomes the East River Road as you travel the perimeter of the East Bank campus. Follow East River Road and pass under the Washington Avenue Bridge, and past Comstock Hall. Proceed to the Public Entrance of the East River Road Parking Garage. Take a ticket upon entering and proceed to levels E, F, or G.

Parking and Unloading
All Yudof Hall residents will need to unload vehicles within the East River Road Garage. Take a parking ticket upon entering and proceed to levels E, F, or G for unloading and parking.

Take the elevator in the central portion of the garage to the Plaza Level (Level 1). From the Plaza Level, proceed toward Coffman Union and turn left before Delaware Street. The Yudof Hall entrance will be on your left.You or your family will be able to check out a moving cart from Yudof Hall to use to move your belongings from your vehicle into Yudof Hall. You will be able to pick up a parking coupon at the Yudof Hall Information Desk which will reduce the rate of your parking to $6.00 maximum for a full day. This coupon is only good for ONE day. You may get two coupons if you have a second vehicle for your move.

  • No stopping or unloading along Delaware Street.
  • Traffic enforcement ensures a full Fire Lane is maintained at all times.

Directions
Due to high traffic volumes near campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Bailey Hall:

Northbound on I-35W: Follow I-35W to I-94. Continue on I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Southbound on I-35W: Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Go south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.

East and Westbound on I-94: Follow I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Westbound on Highway 36: Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Go south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.

Use Cleveland Avenue to arrive on the St. Paul campus.  Proceed down Buford Avenue and follow it around to the back side of Bailey Hall.  You may unload at the meters near the St. Paul Gym Field.

From August 27 to Sept 1 vehicles may park in parking lot SC175 located about one block north of Bailey Hall on the west side of Cleveland Avenue for a few hours  If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick it up during the check in process.

Comstock Hall

Directions
Due to construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Comstock Hall:

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit. Proceed eastbound on University Avenue to 14th Avenue SE. Turn right on 14th Avenue SE, this becomes the East River Parkway as you travel the perimeter of the East Bank campus. Follow East River Parkway and pass under the Washington Avenue Bridge, and past Comstock Hall. Proceed to the Public Entrance of the East River Road Parking Garage.

You’ll then proceed forward along East River Parkway to the Public Level entrance of the East River Road Parking Ramp.

Turn right onto 10th Avenue and follow the bridge over the Mississippi River. Proceed through 2 traffic lights and turn left on 4th Street. Proceed on 4th Street for approximately 2 blocks until arriving at the unloading area and 21st Ave. Parking Ramp.

From eastbound I-94: take the 25th Ave./Riverside exit (Exit 235A). Turn left onto 25th Avenue South, and proceed to Riverside Avenue. Turn left onto Riverside Avenue, and proceed to 22nd Avenue South. Turn Right onto 22nd Avenue South and proceed to South 5th Street. Unloading spaces are available at the Lot C80 meters and Lot C95. For longer term parking, proceed West on South 5th Street, to 21st Avenue South. Turn right on 21st Avenue South, and proceed to the 21st Avenue ramp at the corner of 21st Avenue South and South 4th Street.

From westbound I-94: take exit 235A and proceed to Riverside Avenue. Proceed to 22nd Avenue South and turn Right onto 22nd Avenue South. Proceed to South 5th Street. Unloading spaces are available at the Lot C80 meters and Lot C95.

From I-94: you will take the Huron Boulevard Exit. Proceed to University Avenue SE. Turn left onto University Ave SE. At Oak St., the street splits into two one way streets. You will make a right turn at the stadium and proceed westbound on 4th Street SE to 12th Avenue. Turn left at 12th Avenue. Drive one block, cross University Avenue and proceed into the driveway area between Sanford Hall and Wilkins Hall.

Parking and Unloading
You may unload your belongings from lot C43 and C44.  There will be moving carts available for check out.

From I-94, take the Huron Boulevard exit.  Continue on Huron Blvd. to University Avenue.  Turn left on University Avenue, and continue as University Avenue bears right at Oak St and becomes 4th St SE.  Proceed on 4th St SE, and turn right on 17th Avenue SE and proceed to the 4th Street Parking Ramp. 

Parking coupons for a maximum daily rate will be available at the 17th Ave Residence Hall Information Desk for parking in the 4th St. ramp.  If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick it up during the check in process.

Centennial Hall (SuperBlock)

Because of construction and high traffic volumes on campus, you will need to follow the specific directions below to arrive at Centennial Hall. Unloading space is at a premium due to construction work surrounding Centennial and within the Superblock area.  Please be advised that you may need to unload from within the Oak Street Parking Ramp and use a cart available at the residence hall to make several trips.   

From I-35W: take the 4th Street/University Avenue exit and proceed eastbound on University Avenue approximately 12 blocks to Oak St. Turn right onto Oak St and proceed for 2 blocks. The unloading areas for Centennial Hall residents are located along the west side of Oak St. south of Delaware St.

Maximum Daily rate parking coupons are available from the Territorial Hall Information Desk for parking in the Oak St. Ramp. The coupon rate is the same as the weekend maximum rate.  If you have a parking contract for the academic year, you will be able to pick it up during the check in process.

Note: The ramp located directly across the street from Centennial Hall is affiliated with the hospital. If you choose to park in that location, you will be charged the stated amount for parking. University of Minnesota Parking Coupons cannot be used in that ramp.

Superblock Additional Parking and Unloading Information

Parking and Unloading

Street parking and meters around the Superblock are heavily used.   If you choose to park at a meter, please be certain that your vehicle fully fits into the parking space and does not intrude into the traffic lane. 

If the meter is visible, you must pay to park in that location. 

There are limited meters where you may choose to pay to park located near the Superblock:

  • East River Road
  • The north side of Delaware Street between Walnut Street and Oak Street
  • The west side of Oak Street between Fulton Street and East River Road.
  • The east side of Oak Street between Delaware and East River Road.
  • Parking contract holders have reserved spaces in numbered parking lots  and are off limits for unloading.
  • No unloading along either side of Harvard Street or Delaware Street (unless using a metered space)
  • No parking or stopping on grass or vacant lots near the Superblock.
  • The Fairview Hospital Ramp is reserved for hospital and clinic visitors. The university does not have any reciprocal parking privileges.
