For 2007-2008, Housing & Residential Life has created a programming grant system to help support programming efforts that positively impact residential students but are planned by external organizations. To allocate the actual program grants, HRL has created the Program Grant Board (PGB).
This board consists of the council treasurers from all eleven community councils and RHA. The PGB will be chaired by the RHA Administrative Coordinator and advised by a member of the Residential Life professional staff. External groups will be allowed to complete a grant request form, present a proposal to the board, and potentially receive funding to support a portion of their programming costs. After the event, the requesting group will be asked to complete a grant reporting form. Grant decisions made by the students on the board will be final
Notes about the grant process:
Grants would be considered for external groups only. ‘External groups’ will be defined as any student, group, or organization that falls outside the following: RHA, NRHH, Bridges, GLBTA Network, and any HRL community council (hereafter known as ‘internal councils’)
Internal councils will no longer consider any funding requests from external groups. All such requests will be referred to the PGB.
The PGB will be limited to a maximum allocation per external group or event of $2000.
The PGB will meet once every three weeks to conduct training, carry out any grant hearings, evaluate the status of previous grants, and/or review the remaining grant funds.
Any questions about the PGB can be directed to pgb@umn.edu.
The grant request packet is available here in pdf format.
